Senior Center to offer active shooter workshop

            The St. James Senior Center will hold a free active shooter and workplace violence workshop next Monday and Tuesday and will feature guest speaker David Honea, of Personal Defense Dynamics LLC.


            On Monday, November 14, the session will begin at 9 a.m. and Tuesdays workshop will be held at 1:30 p.m. The active shooter workshop will provide insight into what a person can do in the event of an active shooter in the workplace and Honea will provide instruction on what to do and when to do it. Information is based on the FBI’s standard of “Run, Hide, Fight” and includes security options designed to be implemented in any situation, whether at home, in the office, or in a public setting.
            The workplace violence workshop focuses on four different types of workplace violence, including active shooters, terrorism, and more. Honea will provide information on how to improve current safety measures and how to mitigate an event after it has begun.
            Courses are great for businesses and individuals interested in learning about preventing workplace violence and will be free to the community.
            No registration is required and courses will be held at the St. James Senior Center, located at 110 West James Boulevard, in St. James. Anyone with questions is encouraged to contact the facility at 573-265-7072.
