Bill Durrett of St. James, Missouri was born July 24, 1961 in Libertyville, Illinois to Barbara Hansen McDowell and Bob Durrett and passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022 at the age of 61 years.
He married Darlene Durrett on February 14, 2011 in St. James, Missouri.
Bill’s favorite times were spent at the river, at family picnics or exploring in the woods. Being outdoors, fishing and hunting were his choice of activities when he had free time from his family business.
His dad started the family business, AA Electric Company. Bill learned the electric technician trade from his dad, and he continued the business after his dad went to work for Manchester packaging. His wife, Darlene, worked along his side for many years.
He spent many hours researching his favorite John Deere models and his fellow mechanical/motoring family and friends referred to him as a gearhead, always calling on his knowledge to help troubleshoot and fix their latest breakdown.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Durrett, who passed away on October 12, 2016.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Durrett of St. James, Missouri; mother, Barbara McDowell of St. James, Missouri; sons, Robert Durrett of St. James, Missouri and Jason Boyer and wife Pam of St. James, Missouri; daughters, Jennifer Durrett and fiance Cliff Pankey of St. James, Missouri and Jessie Ortega and husband John of Rolla, Missouri; sister, Sue Durrett of Germantown, Tennessee; brother, Gary McDowell and wife Kim of St. James, Missouri; grandchildren, Charisma Zandvliet, Jayden Durrett, Phoenix Zandvliet, Aubrey Boyer, Jaylin Durrett, Lillian Boyer, Jayson Durrett, Brayden Durrett and Callie Schneider; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
Celebration of Life service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri with Pastor Don Carson officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren.
His ashes will be spread on his farm.
