Coroner facility project has been years in the making

Crawford County needs a location to house the coroner’s administrative offices in addition to a place for body storage. It’s a need the commission has been aware of since the previous coroner announced his plans to retire in 2020, knowing that would leave the county without further usage of his private funeral home business for that purpose. With the passage of an additional half-cent sales tax in 2018 and then again in 2022, commissioners have been working on plans to secure a facility for the new coroner.
