Council approves $10k towards dog pound construction

• Alderman complains about lack of dog registrations
    The city of Steelville will contribute up to $10,000 towards the construction of a new dog pound, adding to the nearly $30,000 raised by local animal rescue group Santana’s Hope 4 Paws for a new facility. Discussion on the topic, however, also included complaints from one alderman about dog registration enforcement and concerns from an alderwoman about the volunteer group’s role with the new facility.

Bringing the workforce up to speed for hypersonic flight

Attaining hypersonic flight – the ability to fly and maneuver at more than five times the speed of sound – is a priority for the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) as it works to modernize the military and weapons systems. Materials engineering researchers at Missouri University of Science and Technology are part of a multi-university team working to develop training programs for the future hypersonic workforce.

Missouri Care gift to help grow 4-H student nutrition advisory clubs

Missouri 4-H received $25,000 from Missouri Care Inc. to support young people across Missouri in promoting healthy habits in their communities.
The 4-H Student Nutrition Advisory Council (SNAC) initiative, piloted last year in the Kansas City metropolitan area, creates new 4-H clubs that focus on teaching nutrition along with leadership and citizenship skills central to 4-H.
