Those interested in entering a gun raffle only have a short time left to enter. The St. James Chamber of Commerce will hold the raffle drawing for a Henry “Goldenboy” H004 .22 caliber long rifle on Saturday, August 29, during the FFA/4-H Livestock show and sale.
Crawford County’s positive COVID-19 cases totaled 77 as of Monday, August 10. That is an increase of 19 cases over a week ago on August 3, when the total was 58. On Monday, July 27, Crawford County’s total was 33, showing a total increase of 44 positive cases in the last two weeks.
Steelville Alderman Duane DeRennaux wants pets controlled and registered in the city. The recently elected alderman has spoken to his counterparts at the two most recent city council meetings about his concerns, primarily with dogs running loose in the community.
The Cuba City Council met on August 4 and discussed the condition of the city’s police station and the possibility of a new building for Cencom. Several ordinances were also approved.
Having good name recognition and experience is generally a winning combination for any political candidate and that certainly turned out to be the case for Mike Randazzo in last week’s Republican Primary for Division 2 judge in the 42nd Circuit. Randazzo won the three counties where is he most well-known and that was more than enough to secure a spot on the November ballot where he will be unopposed.
The August 4 Primary Election brought out just over 28 percent of Crawford County voters to cast their ballots. Of the registered voters in the county, just 4,612 out of 16,181 voted last Tuesday. The vast majority did so at polling locations throughout the county, with only 375 choosing to vote by absentee ballot, and just 10 by mail-in ballot.
