Extension Council election begins

    The names of six persons are on the January ballot for election of University of Missouri County Extension Council members. Council Chair Dana Richter said six county residents will be elected by districts to fill this year’s vacancies.  The new council begins its duties March 1, according to state law.

Troop I to conduct ‘Click It or Ticket’ operation in February

    Captain James W. Remillard, commanding officer of Troop I, Rolla, Missouri, announces that during the month of February, Troop I officers will conduct a seat belt enforcement operation in Troop I, along Interstate 44. Officers assigned to this project will focus enforcement efforts on moving violations that contribute to traffic crashes with an emphasis on secondary seat belt violations.

DED releases December 2018 jobs report

Missouri’s unemployment rate edged up to 3.1 percent in December, retreating slightly from the record low of 3.0 percent reached in November. Even with this uptick, the current rate is still six-tenths of a point below the year-earlier value.

Man found asleep in woman’s home is arrested for stolen van

A St. James man caught naked in a Cuba woman’s bed was later arrested after police discovered he was driving a stolen vehicle. He now faces charges in Crawford County for class D felony receiving stolen property.

Cuba man charged for two burglaries

Burglary charges have been filed against a Cuba man for breaking into two local businesses on December 19, 2018. Cory Nathan Laney, 34, stands charged with two counts of class D felony second-degree burglary, class E felony first-degree property damage, and class A misdemeanor stealing as a result of the incidents.
