MDC and rural fire departments are partners in fighting wildfires

One of the Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) partners in fighting or preventing wildfires turns 75 this year, while the others are of greatly varying ages. All are valuable, as is MDC’s role in protecting private property and wildlife habitat from accidental or arson fires in rural areas.

Celebrate Missouri trees with MDC through Arbor Days in April

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) encourages Missourians to celebrate the value of Missouri trees and forests during Arbor Days in April by planting native trees and practicing proper tree care.

White and Krawiecki running for mayor

    Current Mayor Jim White and current Ward 1 councilman Rick Krawiecki are running for the office of the Mayor of St. James. On April 2, voters will choose if White will serve another term or if Krawiecki will be the new mayor of St. James. Both men were interviewed by the Saint James Press to let voters know more about their educational and work background, experience with city government, what issues they hope to address should they be voted into office, and other information they feel voters should know before heading into the polls.

Gardeners of the Forest City announce new officers

    The Gardeners of the Forest City has kicked off a new season of work, service, and education.  The club recently met to install new officers.  Dee Welsh was installed as second vice president, Debbie Schuetz as treasurer, and Helen Welsh as recording secretary.

Rolla man wins second Show Me Cash Jackpot

    More than 500 Missouri Lottery players have won Show Me Cash jackpots since sales for the Draw Game began in 2008. Charles Brown of Rolla has now joined five other players to have won Show Me Cash not once, but twice.

Country Mart Pharmacy makes Book Buzz donation

Country Mart Pharmacy sponsored and donated the February Book Buzz books to the Steelville Elementary School Library recently. Cole Adams, Lexi Tolly and Blake Mathes took time out to show them off. Book Buzz is part of Three Rivers Publishing’s Newspapers In Education program.
