At the May 17 meeting, Steelville City Council members heard about upcoming summer plans for several events and activities and approved requests from the represented organizations as needed.
The St. James Class of 2021 spent their final moments together as a class during the graduation ceremonies held on Friday, May 21. Held at the multipurpose complex, the event featured speeches by this year’s valedictorian and salutatorian, as well as words from John F. Hodge High School Principal Joe Stammers.
The St. James Board of Education heard an update an update on Elementary and Secondary Emergency Relief (ESSER) Fund money the district is receiving to aid with COVID-19 relief. Superintendent Dr. Merlyn Johnson explained how the money will impact St. James Schools during the May meeting of the board.
Crawford County Library District will begin its 2021 Summer Reading Program, Tales & Tails: Summer Puppet Theater, on Tuesday, June 2. All program times will be 3:30 p.m. in the afternoon, with Tuesdays at Recklein in Cuba, Wednesdays at Steelville, and Thursdays at Bourbon.
Twenty-five graduates from Bourbon High School will be attending college or technical schools in the fall and several of them have earned scholarships to help pay for their continuing education.
