SMS presents Treasure Island - PHOTO GALLERY

          Steelville Middle School students under the direction of Shelley Beers presented “Treasure Island,” a musical adaptation of the Robert Louis Stevenson classic with musical arrangements by Mary Donnelly & George L.O. Strid. The performances were held in the Meramec Music Theatre on May 10.

Steelville bull rider competing in World Finals

           Steelville’s Bob Mitchell is just 19 years old, but he is already ranked 19th in the world in riding bulls in the Professional Bull Riders tour. He is competing in the world championship event in Fort Worth, Texas, this month.

Portion of Highway B to be closed through August

          Those who use Highway B should be advised the road will be closed down for removal and replacement of a bridge beginning June 1 through August 24 in the 20500 block, located south of Royal.

County moved to new congressional district

           Crawford County will no longer be in the 8th Congressional District under a redistricting plan approved by the Missouri Senate last week, provided the bill is signed by the governor. Instead, county residents will vote in the 3rd Congressional District, which is currently represented by Republican Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer, of St. Elizabeth.
