For the third consecutive year, the Steelville High School boys and girls cross country teams are the champions of the Gasconade Valley Conference, and a total of eight Cardinals earned all-conference honors at last Friday’s GVC meet in Viburnum.
The Steelville Middle School girls Red Team recently finished second at the Bland Eighth Grade Tournament. The Lady Cardinals fell to Cuba in the championship game.
Melayna Brown finished among the top seven runners in last week’s Gasconade Valley Conference cross country championships held at Viburnum, thereby earning all-GVC honors. Brown, a sophomore at Cuba High School, finished fourth overall in the conference varsity girls run. She ran the 5000 meters race in a time of 24:23.22.
Logan Ray and Melayna Brown both finished second in their respective varsity cross country races at Dixon on October 14, and every one of the Wildcat runners earned a medal in the meet.
Sophomore cross country runner Melayna Brown earned a medal with her performance in the Farmington Invitational meet that was held on Saturday, October 19.
After an impressive 45-20 road win at Windsor last week, the Cuba Wildcats entered this week with a 4-4 record and a chance to host a district playoff game at the Wildcat Field of Pride.
