Nominations needed for Citizen of the Year
The Steelville Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the Citizen of the Year for 2020.
The Citizen of the Year award is presented to an individual or group of people that have shown exceptional service by volunteering and significantly contributing to the Steelville community.
Aldermen vote to disband park board
In spite of an ordinance governing the establishment of a park board still on the books—one that’s been in place since 1988—and stiff opposition from the mayor, three of four Steelville City Council aldermen voted to dissolve the park board at the January 19 council meeting.
April election will include school board, alderman races
There are only three candidate races on the April ballot in Steelville at this time. Voters will select two school board members and will choose an alderman for Ward 2 in the city.
Fatal crash claims life of Steelville man
A Steelville man was killed in a single-car crash on January 19.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol Online Traffic Crash Report stated James L. Vaughn, 78, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Deputy Coroner Nikki Bussell at 2:18 p.m.
