District plans back-to-school events

    School starts in Steelville on August 24 and now is the time to register students and plan to attend orientations and open houses. Athletes and band members are also beginning practices in preparation for fall competitions, and teachers and staff members are preparing classrooms and curriculum.

Council votes to update several ordinances

    Steelville city council members considered several ordinances at their August 2 meeting, approving some updates to city regulations and deciding to wait on others.

Taste of Crawford County to be held in Steelville

    A Taste of Crawford County event will be held on Main Street in downtown Steelville on Saturday, September 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Opioid awareness walk is August 21

    Walking to End the Stigma, a substance use disorder awareness walk, will take place in Steelville on Saturday, August 21. The walk begins at 10 a.m. at the Steelville School District Administration Building, located at 817 Main Street.

Council supports pool staff decisions

    In spite of concerns expressed by one alderwoman, the Steelville City Council as a whole agreed the pool manager was doing a good job overall and didn’t need to be micromanaged.
