During its meeting on April 21, the Cuba School Board heard a budget update for the current school year and next year, accepted bids for employee health insurance, and approved several other bids.
During its meeting on April 19, the Cuba City Council held conversation with outgoing Public Works Director Craig Bouse in hopes of having a smooth transition after his final day on Friday, April 22. Bouse announced he was leaving his job at the city on March 29 and is pursuing unspecified “other opportunities.”
During its meeting on April 21, the Cuba School Board approved a series of bids for the renovation of the Cuba High School gym. The work will be completed over the summer and should be finished when students return to class in August.
The official city handbook definition of retirement and payment for unused sick days were back before members of the Cuba City Council on April 19. The discussion was somewhat muted as the city attorney declined to comment in open session on all the questions being raised and even left the room briefly with an alderman and the mayor to discuss the matter.
The Cuba High School track and field teams gave special recognition to Shaunna West during last week’s home meet. Shuanna has been active in the Special Olympics since she was in fifth grade.
