Cuba City Council Notes

The Cuba City Council met in regular session on August 7 at City Hall. The following items of business were discussed at that meeting:

• The council went into closed session for reasons of litigation, real estate and personnel. In closed session, the council voted to hire Jessica Talamante as administrative assistant at City Hall, Mae Cody as an Animal Control Officer, and Rachel Bennett as Animal Control care assistant.

Council discusses issue of nuisance enforcement

The Cuba City Council returned to a recurring topic of debate at their August 7 meeting: nuisance complaints. Ward 1 Alderman Don Mizell said he has fielded a number of citizen complaints in recent weeks about nuisance properties, particularly those with overgrown grass that needs to be cut. He wanted to know what was being done to curb the citywide problem.
