In the coming year, Bourbon’s citizens will benefit from a full reconstruction of utility lines and other city infrastructure along East Pine Street, the main downtown thoroughfare. Bourbon was awarded a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) that will help fund much of the project, which is scheduled to be bid out this summer.
Bourbon High School senior Trevor Goodbar has enlisted in the Air Force for six years with a job in Aircraft Maintenance. Goodbar, the son of Rusty and Barb La Plant and Jeff Goodbar, will leave for basic training at the end of the summer. His basic training will be held at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. On Tuesday evening, May 8, the Bourbon Booster Club in conjunction with the R-1 Bourbon School, held the annual Booster Awards Banquet. Booster President Mary Heywood welcomed the nice crowd that had come to see local volunteers and others receive thanks for all they have done to help Bourbon grow and prosper.
Wednesday, May 2 at Bourbon, Lori read books about North and South America at the Home School Story Time. The kids enjoyed making a pie and snake for their craft.
