A St. Clair man stands accused of unlawfully entering a home in an effort to take money for gas. He was surprised to find the homeowners there, and the burglar was quickly escorted out of the residence.
Railroad crossing work by a contractor for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad will close Crawford County Route FF just south of Historic Highway 66. Track and railroad crossing maintenance will take from 7 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14 until 5 p.m. on Friday, August 17. Traffic will be detoured around the area.
Crawford County voters cast a total of 5,526 ballots in the August 7 Primary Election. With 16,191 voters registered in the county, it amounted to a 34 percent voter turnout. A decent turnout for the election may have been due to the controversial Proposition A statutory measure that was on the statewide primary ballot in August. Crawford County voters selected several new county office holders at the polls on Primary Tuesday. Five county government seats were determined in the Republican primary, since there is no other party opposition in the November General Election, and three other Republican candidates weren’t opposed in the primary at all.
