Sip n Savor tickets on sale now

    Sip n’ Savor returns to St. James on Saturday, May 4 and will again offer many tasty samplings of Missouri’s best wine, beer, and food. This annual event is sponsored by the St. James Chamber of Commerce, and will once again be a celebration of breweries, wineries, and food in the downtown plaza. Discounted advanced tickets are now on sale for those looking to save on admission to this year’s event.

City approves first Planned Unit Development rezoning

    The St. James city council started the process of approving the first Planned Unit Development (PUD) rezoning since the council approved the zoning rules last year. Documents will be sent back to the planning and zoning board before returning to the council later this year for final approval.

Council will reconsider chicken ordinance

    The St. James city council unanimously voted down a second reading of an ordinance which would have allowed residents living in the city limits to own chickens. Members of the council still would like to look at a way to allow the school district to raise chickens as part of an educational program, but will reexamine the ordinance language next month before moving forward.

Senior Beta Club holding fundraiser on Friday

    The high school Senior Beta Club will be holding a fundraiser this Friday, March 15 at Panera Bread in Rolla. From 4 to 8 p.m., those who present a flier during their meal will have 20 percent of the proceeds benefit the local school club.

'Librarian's Choice" exhibit now on display at the library

"Librarian's Choice" is the theme for the March display of books at the James Memorial Library. Each of our three librarian's has chosen several of their favorite books to represent their particular areas of expertise and personal interest. Head Librarian Linda Ray has chosen from both English and American classics.
