FFA to hold gigging tournament

    The St. James High School FFA will hold its’ first annual gigging tournament this Saturday, December 15. Signups and sponsors are still being accepted for the event, with participants competing for a chance to win monetary prizes while helping the program raise money for its annual activities.

St. James residents to compete in AKC National Championship

The top dogs from across the country and around the world will be returning to Orlando, Florida this December 15-16, 2018 for the 18th annual AKC National Championship presented by Royal Canin. Local residents, Theresa and Benjamin Wegner and GCH CH Novelty Chasing The Dream aka Chase & CH Novelty Time To Party aka Chloe will be among the many contenders at this prestigious event.

St. James Students Attend Missouri Senior Beta Convention

St. James High School students had great success at their second Missouri Senior Beta Convention on December 7-8 at the University Plaza Hotel & Springfield Expo Center in Springfield, Missouri. Beta holds annual state conventions in 18 states, both for Senior and Junior Beta divisions, and winners of these state events go on to compete on a national level.

Police department receives insurance grant for new equipment

    The St. James Police Department will receive new safety equipment thanks to a grant from the Missouri Intergovernmental Risk Management Association (MIRMA). A grant of $6,048.15 will allow the city to purchase new surveillance equipment for the police station as well as two new stop sticks to assist with high-speed chases.

City hears proposal to aid Senior Center through a tax

    St. James City Councilman Bob Smith discussed a proposal to aid the St. James Senior Center through a sales tax that could be placed on the April ballot. He informed the council the facility helps many seniors not only in St. James, but in the region and would like to see the city aid monetarily to ensure seniors get the best facility possible.
