Governor Parson visits bridge in St. James, discusses repair plans

    Governor Mike Parson visited a bridge on State Route B in St. James on Thursday February 14 as part of a tour of five of the 250 bridges scheduled for immediate repair or replacement in his proposed funding program. Should his program be passed by the Missouri General Assembly this year, this nearly 85-year-old bridge will be the beneficiary of funds to improve its condition.

Applications for spring craft fair available now

The Parent Teacher Community Organization (PTO) will hold its annual Spring Craft Fair on May 4 and applications for those wanting a booth are available now. Vendors can sign up to register for a 10-foot by 10-foot booth space at the event, where artisans of all types can show and sell their goods to the community.

YEP students attend annual conference

    Members of the high school Youth Empowerment Project attended an annual conference on February 6 in Springfield. Students heard from guest speakers, worked in groups to learn about impacting their communities, and shared ideas on several community issues.

School district honoring board members this week

February 10-16, 2019 is School Board Appreciation Week in Missouri. This week helps build awareness and understanding of the vital functions our locally elected boards of education play in our community. St. James R-I School District is joining public school districts from across the state to celebrate School Board Appreciation Week and honor local board members for their commitment to St. James and its children.

Pre-registration for ALZ race now available

    A Race to End Alzheimer’s 5k will be held on April 6, and organizer Julie Felan is hoping to begin building momentum for this first-time event. Pre-registration opened February 1 and will be open to racers until March 20. The event will raise money for the local Walk to End Alzheimer’s Association.
