Both St. James Middle School boys basketball teams finished third in their tournaments last week. The eighth grade took their first game in the Union tournament 37-15 over St. Clair, then fell to Washington 36-25, and came back to take third over Pacific 40-32. The seventh grade Tigers defeated Pacific in the first game of the home tournament in a nail biter, 22-20, lost in the semi-finals to Union 33-24, and won third place over St. Clair 33-22.

To open the season last week, the St. James High School boys’ basketball team doubled up Potosi at the Sullivan tournament. The rematch on Monday wasn’t as lopsided, but the Tigers were still in control most of the way.
Tigers win tournament opener
The St. James High School boys basketball team opened its season with a bang Monday in the first round of the Sullivan First Community National Bank Invitational at Sullivan High School. The top-seeded Tigers doubled the score on eighth-seeded Potosi, coasting to a 70-35 victory.
