Salem special waste collection diverts six tons of recyclable material from landfill

    Meramec Regional Planning Commission, with funding from the Ozark Rivers Solid Waste Management District (ORSWMD), gathered 6.05 tons of residential scrap electronics, appliances and tires at the May 16 collection held in Salem.

Missouri S&T receives additional NSF grant to train cybersecurity experts

Researchers at Missouri University of Science and Technology will continue to combat cybersecurity threats by training the next generation of experts in the field with a $225,000 grant from the National Science Foundation. The grant will fund Missouri S&T’s computer science department’s “Scholarship for Service” master of science degree and Ph.D. students, who will specialize in cybersecurity.

August 4 primary sees races at state and local level

    Phelps County voters will head to the polls next Tuesday August 4, for the Primary Election, which will have races at both the state and local level.
    There are five different political party ballots available for this election, but those interested in participating in the local election should choose Republican, as there are races for District 1 and District 2 commissioner, as well as coroner, that all feature Republicans.

Missouri S&T challenges university community to take the Miner Pledge

    Missouri University of Science and Technology announced the creation of the Miner Pledge today as part of the university’s efforts to help limit the spread of COVID-19 on campus and in the Rolla area. The Miner Pledge encourages students and employees to pledge to protect themselves, the campus and the community by taking action to “respond with noble efforts to overcome the challenges before us because that’s what Miners do.”
