Missouri S&T to celebrate National STEM Day Nov. 8

A theatrical demonstration of science experiments with audience participation, tours of a home automated by smart devices, and a workshop where powder is transformed into permanent art. These are just a few of the experiences awaiting over 900 students in grades kindergarten-12 who are signed up for the celebration of National STEM Day at Missouri University of Science and Technology, which takes place 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8. The acronym STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math.

McCarthy, Peters squaring off in 122nd District race

Lisa McCarthy, Democrat, is facing Tara Peters, Republican, for Missouri House of Representatives District 122 in the November 8 general election. Both were asked to provide information about themselves, why they are running and what they felt voters should know before heading to the polls.

Morrison and Route 66 Rolla Summerfest committee honored at the Meramec Regional Planning Commission annual dinner

            Jim Morrison of St. James and the Route 66 Rolla Summerfest Committee were honored during the Meramec Regional Planning Commission’s (MRPC) annual dinner Oct. 13 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Vienna.  Each year, MRPC honors residents, local agency representatives and organizations in the Meramec Region who contribute to their communities by volunteering their time, talents and support.

November election is next Tuesday

            The November election is next Tuesday and will feature several Missouri constitutional questions as well as higher level races. Voting will be held on November 8 between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.
