MU Extension Welcome Week offers free classes and giveaways

The University of Missouri Extension Center of Phelps County today announced it will celebrate a Welcome Week from May 15 to the 22. The Welcome Week will highlight relevant community education resources available to Phelps County. The Extension Center will offer classes and community events to the public virtually through YouTube, Zoom, and Facebook.

MERS Goodwill To Safely Reopen Select Locations In Missouri On Thursday, May 7

MERS Missouri Goodwill Industries will reopen 23 of its 44 retail stores and donations centers on Thursday, May 7, in accordance to and under the direction of federal, state, and local guidelines. The stores, including the one in Rolla located at 1304 Forum Drive, are in outlying Missouri areas where the order has been lifted, including stores in St. Charles County and Franklin County will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For a full list of store locations visit https://mersgoodwill.org/open-locations/.

Missouri S&T to host virtual celebration of graduates

Missouri University of Science and Technology invites the public to join a celebration of the achievements of its spring 2020 graduates during a virtual event in May. An in-person commencement ceremony for spring 2020 graduates will be held at a later date, and details will be shared when available.

John Woodson is named interim tech transfer director at Missouri S&T

    John Woodson is Missouri S&T’s interim director of technology transfer and economic development. His appointment follows Keith Strassner’s retirement after leading the department for 15 years.

Abigail Carr, a junior majoring in mechanical engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology, was studying at the Cork Institute of Technology in Ireland when the U.S. State Department’s Level 4 Travel Advisory issued in March sent her scrambling to get home after two months of her semester abroad.
