There are few times in our lives when we, as individuals, can actually make significant differences in the lives of children. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of South Central Missouri volunteers are making huge differences in the lives of children in foster care. Children with a CASA volunteer are said to be 95% more successful in life.

A weather spotter class will be offered to the public on Wednesday, January 30 on the Missouri University of Technology (Missouri S&T) campus. The class is sponsored by Phelps County Emergency Management and will teach several topics regarding storm spotting and weather information reporting.
It was a family affair when Linda Ragland claimed a $2.9 million Lotto jackpot on Dec. 27 at Missouri Lottery headquarters in Jefferson City. After matching all six numbers drawn on Dec. 26, five excited members of her family joined her in celebrating this once-in-a-lifetime occasion.

Captain James W. Remillard, commanding officer of Troop I, Rolla, Missouri, announces that during the month of February, Troop I officers will conduct a seat belt enforcement operation in Troop I, along Interstate 44. Officers assigned to this project will focus enforcement efforts on moving violations that contribute to traffic crashes with an emphasis on secondary seat belt violations.
