With the rising cost of college textbooks adding to many students’ debt load, the University of Missouri System is encouraging faculty to explore using more affordable and open educational resources – low-cost or freely accessible, openly licensed text or media for teaching and learning.
Recently quilters attended classes instructed by Gyleen X Fitzgerald, hosted by the Piece and Plenty Quilt Guild, Rolla Missouri. Fitzgerald shared techniques, color blend, engineered tools and design with the participants during two days of classes. Some of the attendees are standing in front of their color combination of the class pattern. Together or apart it was a striking display of color and design.
Students can still register for the five-day Jackling Introduction to Engineering Camp at Missouri University of Science and Technology. The camp will be offered at three different times this summer: June 10-14, June 24-28, and July 8-12. Students should be incoming high school juniors or seniors.
As a part of a senior design project, four Missouri University of Science and Technology students have created a temperature-reading device for firefighters that could save their lives in the future.
