The Steelville High School varsity and junior varsity boys and varsity girls basketball teams traveled to Dixon to officially open their 2020-21 seasons on November 24 and nearly came home with a sweep. Both varsity squads won early and the JV boys rallied late but came up one point short.
The entire first round of the Seventh Annual FCBN Bank-It Tournament in Sullivan was filled with upsets Monday night, and that included the fifth-seeded Steelville Cardinals getting past fourth-seeded St. James 54-46 in a game that was not as close as the final score would indicate.
You’ll have to excuse Steelville High School varsity girls basketball Head Coach Seth Collins for having a big smile on his face headed into the 2020-21 basketball season. The Lady Cardinals won a district championship a year ago and they’ve got every player back.
The Steelville High School varsity boys have been seeded fourth for the FCNB Bank-It Championship basketball tournament, which will get underway on Monday, November 30, at Sullivan High School.
Heading into the 2020-21 season the Steelville High School varsity boys basketball team has just one starter back from a team that went all the way to the district championship game a year ago. This year’s squad, however, is not without some players who have significant varsity experience.
