The Steelville High School varsity girls basketball team finally opened Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) play last week and got a victory over Vienna, but lost to Belle. The defeat came just one week after the Lady Cardinals had beaten the Tigers at the Fatima tournament.
The Steelville High School boys basketball teams earned a sweep over Crocker at home on January 17. It was one of the biggest wins for the varsity boys, who are now 11-2, as they defeated the Lions 90-21.
The Steelville Lady Cardinals have been seeded number one in the 44th Newburg Girls Basketball Invitational Tournament, which will be held January 28-February 2.
The Steelville High School varsity girls won two of three games at last week’s Comet Classic Girls Basketball Tournament at Fatima High School in Westphalia. The Lady Cards only loss was against Rolla, the eventual tourney champions.
The Steelville High School varsity boys basketball team earned a non-conference victory in Owensville on January 8. The Cardinals were scheduled to open Gasconade Valley Conference play on January 11 against Cuba, but that that game was postponed due to snow.
