Cardinals take all-state honors in six events at state track meet

    Steelville High School state track qualifiers brought back all-state honors in six events from last Fridays MSHSAA Class 2 State Championship meet, which was held at Jefferson City. Junior Tyler Davis led the charge for the Cardinals with a second-place finish in the shot put.

Baseball Cards reach district championship

    The Steelville High School baseball team opened play in the Class 3 District 3 tournament at West County High School in Leadwood Saturday with a 9-2 victory over Bourbon. The Cards were scheduled to take on top-seeded Arcadia Valley in the semifinals on Monday, but that game was suspended due to rain and concluded Wednesday with the Cardinals advancing to the championship game.

Two Cards qualify for state golf finals

    Two Steelville High School players qualified for the state golf finals during last week’s Class 2 District 1 tournament at Eagle Springs Golf Course in St. Louis. The entire team missed out on making it to the two-day state tournament by just two strokes.

SHS track teams qualify for state finals in 11 events

    Steelville High School track athletes will be competing in a total of 11 events at the Class 2 Missouri Track and Field Championship, which will be held Friday in Jefferson City. The SHS girls will be in six events, while the boys will be in five.

SMS track teams close out season in Cuba, Union

    The Steelville Middle School track season came to a close last week. The Cardinals participated in their final two meets, in Cuba on May 3 and at Union on May 6.
    The SMS girls won the small-schools division at Cuba with 88 points, while the boys finished second with 80. The Vienna girls took second with 82 points and Viburnum was third with 47, while the Cuba boys were first with 82 and Licking third with 65.
