Lady Cardinals take first in Cuba, second at Linn - PHOTO GALLERY

    Despite being about a half a dozen girls short due to injuries, the Steelville High School Lady Cardinals capture first place at the Cuba Relays on March 26. The SHS boys were second. The Steelville girls won the meet with 127 points, finishing ahead of second-place Salem with 119. St. James came in third with 99. There were nine girls teams at the meet.

Cottrell one-hits Viburnum

    Behind a one-hit performance on the mound from sophomore Chase Cottrell, the Steelville High School varsity baseball team opened Gasconade Valley Conference play last week with a 12-0 victory over Viburnum. The Cards also fell to Sullivan and are now 2-2 on the season.

A Team takes second, twice

    The Steelville Middle School volleyball A Team finished second in the St. James tournament on March 16. The squad also came in second in the Salem tournament on March 21 to close out the season.

    The Steelville High School baseball team opened its 2019 season with a pair of games against non-conference opponents last week and went 1-1. The Cardinals looked good on offense, cranking out 27 hits in the two games, but had a rough time on defense with 12 errors.
