Lady Cards volleyball teams close out regular season - PHOTO GALLERY

    The Steelville High School volleyball teams closed out their regular season at home on November 15 against Viburnum and earned a sweep over the Blue Jays. The victory left the varsity squad with a record of 11-9-2 heading into this week’s district tournament in Belle.

SMS teams sweep Jays

    The Viburnum Blue Jays came to Steelville for a pair of high school volleyball matches (see related story) and three middle school basketball games on October 15. They left without a single victory and lost the basketball games by a combined score of 179-44.

Four Lady Cards named to all-district softball team

    Four Steelville players have been name to this year’s Class 2 District 10 all-district softball team. This district coaches made the selections following this year’s district tournament, which was held in Iberia and won by Cuba.

SMS boys off to hot start, including tourney championship

    The Steelville Middle School boys’ basketball teams are undefeated to open the season, having swept Bourbon and Cuba in two regular season games, while the B team also captured first place in the Bourbon Seventh Grade Tournament. So far, neither team has been challenged.

Lady Cardinals drop eight-inning thriller in district tourney

    The Steelville High School Lady Cardinals softball team saved their wildest game of the season for the opening round of the Class 2 District 10 tournament in Iberia last week. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the team’s final game of the season as they lost a thriller to Laquey 20-19 in eight innings.
