The Steelville High School varsity girls were seeded fourth for the 33rd Annual Lady Rebel Christmas Tournament, which gets underway Wednesday at Park Hills. The final round of the tourney will be played on New Year’s Eve.
The Steelville High School girls basketball teams earned a sweep over Potosi on December 19 as they closed out the pre-Christmas portion of their 2018-19 scheduled last week. The varsity girls are playing in the Park Hills Central tournament this week (see related story).
An early Christmas present came in the form of a sweep over West County for the Steelville High School boys basketball teams in Park Hills on November 20. The Cardinals easily won both games by a combined 61 points.
The Steelville High School varsity boys’ and girls’ basketball teams traveled to Crocker this past Saturday to participate in the Crocker Shootout and both squads returned home with wins. The boys defeated Pierce City, while the girls earned a victory over Crocker.
The Steelville junior varsity boys’ basketball reached the championship game of their annual tournament on December 12 and were just seven minutes away from the first-place trophy. Vienna rallied in the fourth quarter, however, and beat the Cardinals by two points.
