SHS and SMS boys, Church sisters dominate home meet - PHOTO GALLERY

• Middle School boys and girls both take first at Bourbon

    The Steelville cross country teams turned in a dominant performance at their annual home meet on September 13. The Cardinals took two firsts, a second, and a third in five races, while missing out on another possible first or second in another when all-state runner Allie Gibbs couldn’t compete due to an injury.

    The Steelville High School and Middle School cross country teams got the 2018 season off to a great start at the Vienna Eagle Invitational on September 5. The SMS and SHS varsity boys both took first, while the SMS girls and JV boys finished second, and the only three SHS girls in the varsity girls race took first, second, and third.

    The Steelville High School softball team looked like it would earn its first victory of the season on September 5 as the Lady Cardinals led Dixon 10-8 at home with two outs in the top of the seventh inning. Things went awry, however, and Dixon pulled out a 15-12 win.

Varsity volleyball team improves to 2-0 with road win over Union

    The Steelville varsity volleyball team improved its record to 3-0 last week as they went on the road and defeated Union in three sets. The JV lost to the Wildcats in two.

Lady Cards drop season opener to Owensville

    The Steelville High School softball team made two attempts to play their home opener on August 24 and 30, but the rain was the only winner on both days. The Lady Cardinals did see some action, however, as they went on the road to take on Owensville on August 28 to open the season.
