Varsity volleyball team opens eason with two wins - PHOTO GALLERY

    The Steelville High School volleyball teams are off to a hot start. After hosting St. James and traveling to Dixon, the Lady Cardinals are a combined 3-1.
    Steelville hosted St. James on August 27 to open the 2018 season and split a pair of matches with the Tigers. Steelville won the varsity contest in two sets, but lost the JV match in three after winning the opening set and leading 13-1 in the second.

SHS cross country teams are expecting big things against tougher competition

• 44 runners are out for middle school squads

    The Steelville High School and Middle School cross country seasons will officially begin next week when the Cardinals run in Vienna on Wednesday. Steelville will host its only home meet of the season on September 13.

Volleyball squad opens 2018 season on Monday

    The Steelville High School varsity volleyball team will be looking to improve on a sub-.500 season from a year ago when they open their season at home on Monday night against St. James. The Lady Cardinals are hoping to post a winning record this year after losing just two starters to graduation.

Perkins volunteers to coach Lady Cards softball team

    It’s going to be a rebuilding year for the Steelville High School softball team this season. The Lady Cardinals have seven new faces on an 11-player roster, a new head coach, and are coming off a 1-16 record from a year ago. The SHS girls will open the 2018 season, which almost didn’t happen, on Friday when they host St. Clair at 4:30 p.m.
