One of two Steelville golfers finished in the top 20 at last week’s Class 2 state tournament, which was held May 17-18 at Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club in Bolivar.
The Steelville High School baseball team won a thriller—11-4 in 11 innings—over Arcadia Valley last week to get to the district championship, but just didn’t have enough gas in the tank to get past Cuba in the title game the following day, falling 12-2 in six innings. The Cardinals ended the season with a second-place district plaque and a record of 9-10.
Steelville High School state track qualifiers brought back all-state honors in six events from last Fridays MSHSAA Class 2 State Championship meet, which was held at Jefferson City. Junior Tyler Davis led the charge for the Cardinals with a second-place finish in the shot put.
The Steelville High School baseball team opened play in the Class 3 District 3 tournament at West County High School in Leadwood Saturday with a 9-2 victory over Bourbon. The Cards were scheduled to take on top-seeded Arcadia Valley in the semifinals on Monday, but that game was suspended due to rain and concluded Wednesday with the Cardinals advancing to the championship game.
Two Steelville High School players qualified for the state golf finals during last week’s Class 2 District 1 tournament at Eagle Springs Golf Course in St. Louis. The entire team missed out on making it to the two-day state tournament by just two strokes.
