The Steelville High School varsity girls basketball teams opened Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) play in Belle on November 30 and came away with a big win over the Tigers. The Lady Cards also got a win over Grandview last week but lost to Salem.
The Steelville Middle School eighth-grade boys basketball team recently took third in the Bland tournament. The Cardinals defeated Cuba in the final round after falling to Bland in the semifinals.
The Steelville High School varsity and junior varsity boys and varsity girls basketball teams traveled to Dixon to officially open their 2020-21 seasons on November 24 and nearly came home with a sweep. Both varsity squads won early and the JV boys rallied late but came up one point short.
The entire first round of the Seventh Annual FCBN Bank-It Tournament in Sullivan was filled with upsets Monday night, and that included the fifth-seeded Steelville Cardinals getting past fourth-seeded St. James 54-46 in a game that was not as close as the final score would indicate.
You’ll have to excuse Steelville High School varsity girls basketball Head Coach Seth Collins for having a big smile on his face headed into the 2020-21 basketball season. The Lady Cardinals won a district championship a year ago and they’ve got every player back.
