The Steelville High School varsity girls basketball team won two out of three games at the Comet Classic Basketball Tournament at Westphalia last week. The Lady Cardinals defeated Linn in their opening game, fell to Blair Oaks in the semifinals, and beat Linn in the third-place game.
The varsity and junior varsity Cardinals earned a sweep against Owensville on February 14, but the Steelville High School boys basketball teams had last Friday’s homecoming games against St. James canceled due to the weather. Homecoming has been rescheduled for February 7.
The Steelville High School varsity boys basketball team is headed to the championship of the Owensville tournament, which they won last year. The final round was scheduled for Saturday, but was postponed due to the weather and has yet to be rescheduled (as of Tuesday morning).
The Steelville High School girls basketball teams hosted St. James on January 9 in a highly anticipated rematch of last year’s district championship game on the varsity level. The Lady Tigers won that district game and also got the victory last week.
The Steelville High School varsity girls basketball sank nine three pointers from five different players in a 57-40 victory over Belle to open Gasconade Valley Conference play at home Monday night. The Lady Cardinals are now 8-2 overall, with a big test coming up against St. James on Thursday.
