The Cuba Wildcats hosted the Grandview Eagles for a junior varsity football game at the Wildat Field of Pride on Monday, September 17. The Wildcats had a dominating offensive performance that day, beating the Eagles by a final score of 38-14.
The Cuba Lady Cats dropped a pair of road matches to Four Rivers Conference teams last week. Cuba returned home to host a tournament on Saturday, and the Lady Cats reached the semifinals before being knocked out of the bracket.
Coach Jake Montalbano has often said that if his football team can limit their turnovers and mental mistakes, there’s no opponent that can stop the offensive attack. Last Friday night, his squad proved it, blowing out the Grandview Eagles 58-18 at Hillsboro. The Cats racked up over 650 yards of total offense and scored on almost every possession.
Lady Wildcat softball had a tough week, dropping a close road game at North County and then returning to their home field, where they lost to both Vienna and Salem, giving up a combined 24 runs to their opponents in those two games.
The Cuba Wildcat boys finished first in team standings at the Bourbon Invitational cross country meet on Monday, September 10. The Wildcats were first out of four schools in the competition and had three boys finish among the top ten runners. The CHS girls also had three runners finish among the top ten.
