The first half of the basketball season is over, and now the second half has begun. Entering this week’s play, the Cuba Wildcats JV team held a 3-9 record. The first half of the year has seen its fair share of ups and downs, but JV Coach Roger Siwak likes the improvements he sees on the court.
After earning a huge win over the Owensville Dutchgirls to start the new year, the Cuba Lady Wildcats suffered a bit of an emotional letdown in their two subsequent games. Cuba dropped a pair of games against both New Haven and West County, and a third shootout game scheduled for Saturday against Eminence was postponed due to snow.
Hard times continue for the varsity Cuba Wildcats. The team suffered another loss, this time at home against the St. James Tigers. The game was relatively close in the first half, but the Tigers ran away with it in the second half and won by 31 points, 79-48.
The struggles continue for the varsity Cuba Wildcats, who returned from the holiday break to play three games in last week’s tournament at Owensville. The Cats lost all three contests.
In the varsity girls holiday basketball tournament played at Mountain Grove after Christmas, the Cuba Lady Wildcats won their first game and then lost the next two. One of their two losses was close, but the other one wasn’t.
