Lady Cats drop two games in a row

After earning a huge win over the Owensville Dutchgirls to start the new year, the Cuba Lady Wildcats suffered a bit of an emotional letdown in their two subsequent games. Cuba dropped a pair of games against both New Haven and West County, and a third shootout game scheduled for Saturday against Eminence was postponed due to snow.

Hard times continue for the varsity Cuba Wildcats. The team suffered another loss, this time at home against the St. James Tigers. The game was relatively close in the first half, but the Tigers ran away with it in the second half and won by 31 points, 79-48.

Wildcats drop all three in Owensville Tournament

The struggles continue for the varsity Cuba Wildcats, who returned from the holiday break to play three games in last week’s tournament at Owensville. The Cats lost all three contests.

In the varsity girls holiday basketball tournament played at Mountain Grove after Christmas, the Cuba Lady Wildcats won their first game and then lost the next two. One of their two losses was close, but the other one wasn’t.

The Cuba Lady Wildcats celebrated the new year by pulling off an improbable 69-62 victory over the visiting Owensville Dutchgirls on Wednesday, January 2. The Lady Cats won both quarters in the second half and made 29 free throws – 15 of them in the fourth quarter – to take down a strong Dutchgirls team. In only the fourth game this season in which Cuba had its full roster suited up for the game, they had their highest scoring output of the past three years.
