The Cuba Wildcats had a chance to win this year’s Gasconade Valley Conference title last week with a victory over Steelville. After a loss, however, the Cats had to settle for a three-way share of the championship with the Cardinals and Vienna Eagles.
The Cuba High School boys and girls competed at the Gasconade Valley Conference Track Meet Saturday in Bourbon, where senior Kiyah Bast broke the conference discus record and helped the Lady Wildcats to a second-place finish. The boys came in third.
The Cuba and Bourbon middle school track teams traveled to St. James on Friday, April 30. The Wildcats finished third, while the Warhawks were fifth in a 10-team field, while the CMS girls came in seventh and the BMS girls 10th.
The Cuba High School varsity baseball team earned a pair of victories last week in non-conference play. The Wildcats defeated Newburg to open the week and closed it out at home on Friday with a no-hitter against Valley.
The Cuba High School golf team competed in a two-player scramble tournament hosted by Crocker at The Oaks at Lake of the Ozarks on April 27. The Wildcats finished eighth out of 11 teams.
