For the second time in three years, the Cuba Lady Wildcats are district softball champions. The Lady Cats defeated Dixon 16-6 in the first round of the Class 2, District 10 tournament and then beat top-seeded Iberia 4-2 in the championship game last Saturday to take the crown. The Lady Cats last won the title in 2016.
Self-inflicted wounds have troubled the Cuba Wildcats in all of their losses this season. And again last Friday night, turnovers played a huge part in the 36-24 loss at home to the Windsor Owls. The Cats turned the ball over to the Owls five times and had three other possessions that ended when they turned the ball over on downs without scoring.
