The Cuba High School Lady Wildcats basketball team got a victory in last week’s Class 3 District 3 tournament at Herculaneum, but their season came to a close in the semifinals against Steelville, the eventual champions. Cuba wound up with a season record of 14-14.

CHS boys drop district tournament opener
The season for the Cuba High School boys basketball team came to an end on February 24 in the opening round of the Class 3 District 3 tournament in Herculaneum. The Wildcats fell to St. Pius X, the eventual tournament champions, to finish the season with a record of 9-16.

The Cuba High School varsity Lady Wildcats closed out their regular season last week with a pair of Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) wins over Vienna and Bourbon. The girls are playing in the district tournament this week.

For the second time this season, the Cuba High School varsity boys basketball team defeated Bourbon on a last-second shot as they got past the Warhawks 60-59 to close out the regular season on February 20. And for the second time, it was senior Luke Elrod who hit the winning shot.
Williams scores 1,000th point
The CHS girls basketball teams played three games last week, hosting Hermann and taking on Salem and Belle on the road. With a victory over Belle (and a victory Monday evening against), the varsity Lady Wildcats now stand at 3-1 in Gasconade Valley Conference play and will look to wrap up a second-place finish this week.
