Behind a one-hit performance on the mound from sophomore Chase Cottrell, the Steelville High School varsity baseball team opened Gasconade Valley Conference play last week with a 12-0 victory over Viburnum. The Cards also fell to Sullivan and are now 2-2 on the season.
The St. James High School track team captured the boys division of the 15-school, weather-shortened Linn Invitational March 28, while the Lady Tigers tied for fourth.
In the boys team standings, St. James won with 89 points, while School of the Osage was second with 58, and host Linn third with 55.5.
Junior Drew Moritz threw a four-inning, no-hit perfect game for the St. James High School baseball team March 26, pacing the Tigers to a 15-0 victory over the Newburg Wolves at Newburg.
The St. James High School golf team captured a Four-Rivers Conference victory over Hermann 200-220 on March 27 at the St. James Golf Course.
Despite a lot of cold and wet weather, spring baseball and softball has started at Bourbon High School. The baseball squad won their opener, but the softball team lost.
The Bourbon High School track season officially got underway last week. The Warhawks ran in St. James on March 19 and at Hermann on March 21.
