The Bourbon High School varsity boys basketball team captured the championship at the Principia Honor Flight Basketball Tournament on Saturday. The squad also had two players named to the all-tournament team, including the tourney’s most valuable player.
The Bourbon High School girls hosted Kingston on December 12 and the varsity squads played a close, competitive game with the Cougars coming out on top 51-45. Kingston also won a two-quarter junior varsity game 16-9.
The St. James High School boys basketball team has so many potential offensive weapons it’s difficult to determine who will step up on any given night. Against the Salem Tigers Friday, Dec. 13, it was Logan Chick and Andrew Branson.
The St. James High School girls basketball team made it a 3-0 sweep of games last week by whipping Cuba earlier in the week and finishing with wins over Blair Oaks and Mountain View Liberty Thursday and Friday, Dec. 12-13.
Last week was a clean sweep for the St. James Middle School boys basketball teams. The seventh- and eighth-grade teams won both their games.
The St. James High School wrestling team placed 10th in the 15-school Union Tournament, held Friday and Saturday, Dec. 13-14.
Marshfield captured the team title with 301 points, while Northwest Cedar Hill was second with 282, and Windsor Imperial third with 256. St. James was 10th with 104.5.
