In boxing terms, it was a TKO in the first round. The St. James High School football team struggled mightily against the Perryville Pirates Friday, Sept. 6, as the Tigers were shut out 51-0 in non-conference action at Perryville.
With only one senior on the team and none playing at the varsity level, it has to be considered a rebuilding season for the Steelville High School volleyball team this fall. The season officially got underway Monday, but the Lady Cardinals will not play their first home match until September 23.
The Cuba Wildcats were hoping to bounce back last week from a tough Week 1 loss at Herculaneum, a game in which they led much of the way until giving up two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. But things did not go as planned for CHS when the Houston Tigers showed up Friday night at the Field of Pride for Cuba’s home opener. The Tigers scored early and often in blowing out the Cats 48-0 to drop them to an 0-2 record.
