Coach Jake Montalbano called last week’s game at Principia “a microcosm for the whole season. We were winning, and then we had some people get hurt, we made some mistakes, and then we end up losing the game. That sums up the 2018 season for us.”

The two Four-Rivers Conference rivals will meet for the fourth time in the last two years on Friday to open the postseason.
The season came to an end for the St. James High School volleyball team Monday, Oct. 22, as the fifth-seeded Lady Tigers were swept by fourth-seeded host Union 2-0 in first-round action of the Missouri Class 3 District 10 Tournament at Union High School.
The St. James fifth- and sixth-grade youth football teams have had a fine 2018 season, with one reaching the championship game of their division and the other the semifinals.
For the second year in a row, the Steelville High School boys and girls cross country teams as the Gasconade Valley Conference champions. The SHS teams also earned nine out of a possible 14 all-conference spots and had two individual champions at Monday’s GVC meet, which was held in Viburnum.
The Steelville High School volleyball teams closed out their regular season at home on November 15 against Viburnum and earned a sweep over the Blue Jays. The victory left the varsity squad with a record of 11-9-2 heading into this week’s district tournament in Belle.
