The St. James Sports Club held its annual boys basketball tournament for fourth, fifth and sixth grades this past weekend. The two-day tournament was scheduled for early this month, but had to be rescheduled due to weather.
Both St. James Middle School teams went to the finals of tournaments last week to close out their season. Second place went to the eighth-grade boys in the St. Clair tournament and third went to seventh grade in Sullivan.
The St. James High School boys’ basketball squad suffered from a poor shooting night and fell to host Hermann 63-44 in the championship game of the Hermann Tournament Saturday, Jan. 26.
The St. James High School wrestling team saw some of the state’s best competition over the weekend at the annual Francis Howell Kyle Thrasher Tournament, held Friday and Saturday, Jan. 25-26.
A huge rally in the fourth quarter allowed the St. James High School girls’ basketball team to tie things up on long three-point, buzzer-beating jumper by sophomore guard Riley Whitener against Union to force overtime and then go on to win in the extra period 65-59 during Four Rivers Conference action at St. James High School Thursday, Jan. 24.
On Saturday, February 9, the Bourbon Lady Warhawks will take on the Viburnum Lady Blue Jays with game time of 5:30. This night will be a night to help raise money for senior Faith Skaggs.
