Coming off back-to-back 20-win seasons and only losing one player to graduation, it would appear all the stars have aligned for another great season for the Steelville High School varsity boys’ basketball team. And things do look good, but they could be better.
Although there was no intrigue in the decision – he made that public during Homecoming Weekend, St. James High School all-stater Grant Conway made it official on Wednesday, Nov. 14. He’s going to be an Iowa Hawkeye.
The St. James High School boys’ basketball team is to open the season in the Sullivan FCNB Bank-It Championship Nov. 26-30 at Sullivan High School.
The St. James High School boys’ basketball team is not going to strike fear into anyone’s heart with intimidating size. When this season is finished, however, the Tigers hope to have opponents shaking in their boots over their speed and quickness.
After a rebuilding season during which the core of its team was learning on the job, the St. James High School girls’ basketball squad is planning on returning to its winning ways in 2018-19.
It’s like night and day for the St. James High School wrestling this season as far as experience goes. Last season, the Tiger wrestlers were a veteran bunch that ended up sending seven wrestlers to the Missouri Class 2 State Tournament. From that large group of state qualifiers, however, six have graduated and the seventh may miss the entire 2018-19 campaign with injury.
