The Steelville Middle School track teams closed out their season last week with a pair of meets at Cuba and Union. At the 13-team Cuba meet on April 29, both squads came home with first place.
The Cuba Lady Wildcats finished second in the Gasconade Valley Conference Track Meet that was hosted at the Wildcat Field of Pride on Saturday, April 27. The Cuba boys took third out of six schools.
Paven Clark finished second overall in the Class 2, Sectional 1 boys golf tournament at Cape Girardeau Country Club on Monday, and both he and Jonathan Bayless advanced out of the sectional meet to compete at the state golf contest in Springfield next week.
The Steelville High School baseball team has been seeded fourth for the Class 3 District 9 tournament, which will be played May 10-15 in Cuba.
Any hope of gaining a share of this year’s Gasconade Valley Conference baseball title disappeared for the Steelville Cardinals in Belle last week with a 3-1 loss to the Tigers. The Cards are now 2-2 in GVC play and 9-7 overall.
Two Steelville High School golfers earned all-district honors at the Class 2 District 2 tournament, which was held at the Randel-Hinkle Municipal Golf Course in Mountain Grove on April 30. They both advanced to the sectional tournament.
