Cuba High School senior Brining Mulkey qualified for the state golf finals during last week’s Class 2 District 1 tournament at Eagle Springs Golf Course in St. Louis.
The Steelville Middle School track season came to a close last week. The Cardinals participated in their final two meets, in Cuba on May 3 and at Union on May 6.
The SMS girls won the small-schools division at Cuba with 88 points, while the boys finished second with 80. The Vienna girls took second with 82 points and Viburnum was third with 47, while the Cuba boys were first with 82 and Licking third with 65.
The Steelville High School girls finished second at the 15-school Class 2 District 2 track meet, which was held at New Haven on Saturday. The boys came in fourth.
The Steelville Cardinals have been seeded fourth for the Class 3 District 3 baseball tournament, which gets underway Saturday at West County High School in Park Hills.
With a 12-6 victory over Cuba on May 5, the Steelville High School baseball team grabbed a share of this year’s Gasconade Valley Conference title. The Cardinals wound up in a three-way tie for the championship with Cuba and Vienna.
The Steelville High School softball season came to an end May 3 as the Lady Cardinals fell to Ste. Genevieve 9-3 in the opening round of the Class 2 District 3 tournament in Potosi. The SHS varsity squad ended the season with a record of 6-7.
