After a grueling first half, the third-seeded St. James High boys’ basketball team fell to the top-seeded Blair Oaks Falcons 61-29 in the Class 4 District 9 Tournament championship game Saturday, March 6, at Owensville High School.
St. James High School wrestling head coach Beau Moreland thought he would have twice as many state tournament qualifiers for this week’s Missouri Class 2 State Championships. But going into state competition, he said, “I like my three.”
The Cuba Middle School volleyball teams have started their 2021 season, already taking on Steelville twice, along with Linn, Belle, and Bourbon. Both squads have recorded one victory.
The Cuba High School boys basketball season came to a close on March 2 as the Wildcats fell to St. James in the opening round of the Class 4 District 9 tournament at St. James. The Cats finished the 2020-21 season with a record of 4-14.
It’s never an easy road to the Final Four, but the Steelville High School girls may have just completed one of the toughest trips to the Missouri basketball championships ever. Now the Lady Cardinals stand just two more victories away from the first state basketball championship in school history.
In winning their first state tournament game in school history Wednesday night, the Steelville High School Lady Cardinals also put an end to one of the finest runs in Missouri history, knocking off five-time defending champions Strafford Indians. Now, the Lady Cards are just one win away from the Class 3 Final Four.
