Lea signs to play golf at Central Methodist

    Recent Steelville High School graduate Courtney Lea tried out a new sport this spring and did it ever pay off. Although she had never picked up a golf club until March, she is now headed to Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo., as the first signed player on the Eagles new women’s golf team.

St. James teams capture Licking shootout titles

The St. James High School boys’ and girls’ basketball teams were among the big winners during the three-day sessions of the Licking Summer Camp over the weekend.

    The St. James High School girls’ basketball team wrapped up a productive week by capturing the championship of its division in the Licking Summer Camp Shootout session held Thursday and Friday of last week in Rolla.

Redemption for Conway in form of state championship

    About a year ago Grant Conway was at probably his lowest point as a high school athlete. In 2018 the St. James two-sport all-stater was “The Man” in the 110-meter hurdles. He had the fastest time in the state and was supposed to go on to claim the 110 hurdle crown in the form of a state championship medal.

Bast takes all-state in Class 3 javelin championship

In her sophomore year as a track and field athlete at Cuba High School, Kiyah Bast can already lay claim to being an all-stater. Bast took eighth place among girls in the Class 3 division throwing in the javelin event at the state track and field championships last weekend. The event was moved from Jefferson City to Columbia, due to the storm damages in the capitol city.
