The St. James High School girls basketball team suffered from a slow start and fell to Owensville 52-44 in a boys/girls varsity Four-Rivers Conference doubleheader at Owensville Friday, Feb. 8.
The Steelville High School boys has been seeded first, while the girls earned the second seed in the Class 3 District 4 Basketball Tournament, which will be held next week in St. James. The Lady Cardinals are the defending district champions.
The Steelville junior varsity boys basketball team reached the finals of the Bourbon B Team Tournament Saturday, but came up a bit short in the championship game against Owensville. The Cardinals reached the first-place game after getting wins over Salem and Belle.
The host Lady Tigers basketball team got the top-seed and the St. James boys the No. 2 seed for the Missouri Class 3 District 4 Tournament, to be held at St. James High School Monday-Saturday, Feb. 18-23. The district seeding meeting was Saturday, Feb. 9.
Two members of the St. James High School boys wrestling team have advanced to the Missouri Class 2 State Championships through the District 1 Tournament, held Friday and Saturday, Feb. 8-9 at Ste. Genevieve High School.
A couple of local softball officials with St. James ties will be going into a hall of fame later this week, as St. James’ Kristy Rich and Rolla’s Jim Earl will be inducted into the USA Softball Missouri Hall of Fame and Hall of Blue, respectively.
