The seventh-seeded St. James High School soccer team saw its season come to an end with an 8-0 loss to second-seeded North County Saturday, May 15 in first-round action of the Missouri Class 2 District 1 Tournament at Bonne Terre.
The Cuba Wildcats reached the final of the district baseball tournament on Monday with a 7-5 victory over West County in the semifinals. The championship game is scheduled for Thursday, May 20, at 4:30 p.m.
The Lady Wildcats earned all-district honors and will send qualifiers on to the sectional meet in six events during Saturday’s Class 3 District 5 meet at Owensville High School. The top four in each event moved on to the Class 3 Sectional 3 meet, which will be held Saturday, May 22, at Camdenton.
Cuba High School senior Brining Mulkey qualified for the state golf finals during last week’s Class 2 District 1 tournament at Eagle Springs Golf Course in St. Louis.
The Steelville Middle School track season came to a close last week. The Cardinals participated in their final two meets, in Cuba on May 3 and at Union on May 6.
The SMS girls won the small-schools division at Cuba with 88 points, while the boys finished second with 80. The Vienna girls took second with 82 points and Viburnum was third with 47, while the Cuba boys were first with 82 and Licking third with 65.
The Steelville High School girls finished second at the 15-school Class 2 District 2 track meet, which was held at New Haven on Saturday. The boys came in fourth.
