A trip down my memory lane of deer hunting

Born in 1949 in the heavy agricultural community of the Mississippi River Delta country of southeast Missouri, my family was not made up of deer hunters. There were no deer to hunt. Instead we were only afforded opportunities to hunt small game, including rabbits, squirrels and raccoons.

Dove season has opened by the time you read this. There are dozens of them here on Lightnin’ Ridge, feeding beneath the bird feeders, nesting and raising young and then watering at my pond just a hundred yards from my office window.
