Animal rescuers seek update on city shelter

    City personnel have assured representatives of Santana’s Hope for Paws that progress will be made on a new animal shelter in the town. Representatives of the animal rescue group were present at the Steelville City Council meeting on August 17 to ask about the status of the new facility.

Missouri Lt. Governor Mike Kehoe visited the area on Thursday, August 13, making a stop at Chandler Sawmill near Bixby to talk about what good Internet connectivity means to rural America and how Steelville Telephone Exchange was bringing service to the area.

Council discusses dog, cat limits in city

    Steelville Alderman Duane DeRennaux wants pets controlled and registered in the city. The recently elected alderman has spoken to his counterparts at the two most recent city council meetings about his concerns, primarily with dogs running loose in the community.
