    Steelville Police Chief Mike Sherman presented his monthly report for the month of July to city council members at the August 2 meeting.

Latvian student selling books in Steelville

    There’s a young man traveling around the area, knocking on doors, and sharing an opportunity to purchase educational materials for children and youth. Janis Strapcans is a Latvian university student who is visiting our part of the U.S. as his summer exchange program.

Steelville could have medical marijuana service provider

    Steelville City Council members heard a proposal for a new business for patients with medical marijuana cards who need assistance in obtaining the product.

District plans back-to-school events

    School starts in Steelville on August 24 and now is the time to register students and plan to attend orientations and open houses. Athletes and band members are also beginning practices in preparation for fall competitions, and teachers and staff members are preparing classrooms and curriculum.

Council votes to update several ordinances

    Steelville city council members considered several ordinances at their August 2 meeting, approving some updates to city regulations and deciding to wait on others.
