At the May 17 meeting, Steelville City Council members heard about upcoming summer plans for several events and activities and approved requests from the represented organizations as needed.
Steelville High School celebrated the commencement ceremony for the Class of 2021 on Sunday, May 23 in the Paul E. Simmons Auditorium. Fifty-eight seniors were awarded their diplomas at the graduation celebration.
The Steelville School District will celebrate the end of the 2020-21 school year on Wednesday, May 26, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Steelville City Park.
• Brooks and Shook preliminary hearings held together
Two accused murderers and arsonists were in court on Thursday with witnesses called upon to testify against the accused during their preliminary trial. After several hours hearing evidence in a Crawford County courtroom on May 20, Judge Patrick Horsefield sent both Scott Shook Jr. and Julie Brooks up to the next level in the court system for their alleged crimes.
• Suspect has previous drug trafficking charges
Stolen guns and drugs were allegedly found at the Valleyside Road residence of Lane Wade, 23, on May 4. When law enforcement arrived to execute a search warrant at his Steelville home, he reportedly attempted to flee but was caught.
