SHS boys and girls win district titles

    Lady Cardinals Coach Seth Collins is getting used to this, but Steelville High School boys basketball Coach John Tolly enjoyed a new experience last week. Collins won his third district championship, but it was Tolly’s first…and it almost got the best of him.

Steelville group promotes bike park on city property

    Steelville could become a destination for outdoor enthusiasts for another reason in addition to floating on area rivers. The Steelville MTB (Mountain Biking) Collective is a newly formed group pitching a bike park to the city of Steelville, and they have met with support from the council so far.

Steelville Schools see drop in COVID cases, miss days for snow

    COVID-19 cases were at the lowest for the school year, reported Steelville School District Superintendent Mike Whittaker at the February 17 school board meeting. At the time, only one person was in quarantine.

SHS will have a new barn for ag classes

    Construction of a new barn at Steelville High School will offer students who may not have access to the space to house farm animals the opportunity to be involved in doing just that.

Steelville sees subzero temps with snow, leading to power concerns

    Winter hit Steelville hard over the past week, with ice hitting the area last week, then frigid temperatures and snow over the weekend and into Monday. Although the sun was out Tuesday morning, temperatures were at just one degree at 9:30 a.m. and more snow is in the forecast for Wednesday.
