The Steelville City Council met on July 9 and July 16 to conduct business as follows.
Steelville School Board members made two policy decisions at the July 19 meeting, determining not to allow part-time students to participate in athletics or activities and adopting an updated attendance policy for the district.
Progress is being made, although slowly, towards construction of a new bus shed for the Steelville School District. The board held a special meeting to discuss plans on July 31, concluding the next step is to talk to the contracted architects about desired changes to the building plans.
The Steelville School District has a $10.8 million budget in place for fiscal year 2019, one that will dip into reserves in order to make some much-needed capital improvements.
“Explosion of Cool Content” is the Steelville Arts Council’s current exhibition at Gallery Zeke, on display from August 2 through 25. This is an abstract art exhibition, featuring a trend in painting and sculpture in the twentieth century.
