Middle Schooler is inspired by Point the Thumb journey

    The last thing I wanted to do was come home from school then go meet a complete stranger, but when your 12-years-old, you have no choice. Little did I know that I would be spending the evening with one of the most inspirational people I have ever met.

Cuba Lions support food pantry

The Cuba Lions Club held a special fundraiser dinner on Sunday August 29 to benefit the Cuba Food Pantry.  The Cuba Lions raised $2025.00 which was donated to the food pantry.  Rev. Don Martin, of the Cuba Free Will Baptist Church,  (center) received the check from Cuba Lions Club President Lion David VanderWerf (left) and Cuba Lions Club Treasurer Lion Bob Mullen.

Citizens speak at public hearing on moving Cuba City Hall

Residents of Cuba got their chance to voice opinions either in favor or in opposition to a proposal to move city offices into one centralized location at the former home of Meramec Electrical Products Company on Highway PP. It came as no surprise to city officials that most of the people who attended the public hearing at Recklein Auditorium last week were opposed to the idea of developing what’s being touted as a Cuba Municipal Complex.

Cuba City Council Notes

The Cuba City Council met in regular session on August 7 at City Hall. The following items of business were discussed at that meeting:

• The council went into closed session for reasons of litigation, real estate and personnel. In closed session, the council voted to hire Jessica Talamante as administrative assistant at City Hall, Mae Cody as an Animal Control Officer, and Rachel Bennett as Animal Control care assistant.
