American Legion will celebrate centennial birthday on March 26

    The American Legion Post 81 of Bourbon and Auxiliary Unit 81 will celebrate the 100th birthday of the American Legion on Tuesday, March 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the Legion Hall in Bourbon. The Legion was founded on March 15, 1919 in Paris, France by members of the American Expeditionary Forces and was chartered by the US Congress in September that same year.  The name “The American Legion” was adopted two months after the founding at a caucus held in St. Louis, Missouri.

Bourbon students tour Tacony Manufacturing

    When you talk with students about working in manufacturing, many have the false impression of dirty, dangerous, dimly lit factories. In reality, factories have become some of the most safe, technologically advanced places to work. With the baby boomers retiring from the industrial workforce and the consistent growth in manufacturing, that leaves thousands of jobs available.

Bourbon Senior Center News

    On February 14, the Bourbon Senior Center had a great Valentines party. It included fun, fellowship, pictures and food/candy. Several attendance prizes were drawn.
    On February 21 the monthly monthly birthdays and anniversaries were celebrated. Bill Petrovic, Beverly Petrovic, Burly Nichols and Mary Laird celebrated birthdays. Boice and Mary Laird celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.

Keep the Faith night is big success for Lady Warhawks

    On Saturday, February 9, the Lady Warhawks Basketball Team hosted the “Keep the Faith” night at their game against the Lady Blue Jays from Viburnum. The night was held to raise money for senior Faith Skaggs. Skaggs was involved in a serious car accident in December and is currently going through rehabilitation at Ranken Jordan.
