BHS welder earns scholarship

Bourbon High School Students Michael Zuzack (left) and Ryan Cain competed on January 26 in the High School Welding Competition at Missouri Welding Institute (MWI) in Nevada, Mo., where students from all over the United States come to compete. Zusack finished fifth out of 288 contestants and received a limited edition MWI competition jacket and $1,000 scholarship. Cain earned a Pipeliner welding hood and a trophy.

Bourbon council hears about park vandalism

            On January 24, Park Board representative Steve Pasch spoke to the Bourbon City Council about recent bathroom vandalism that occurred last month and ways to stop it. A toilet was destroyed and the city will look at ways to secure the area or close the restroom.

Bourbon superintendent search moving ahead

            The search to find a new superintendent continues as the Bourbon Board of Education plans on conducting the first round on candidate interviews this week. Last month, the board selected the Missouri Association of Rural Education (MARE) to begin vetting candidates and the board will soon begin the next stages of the hiring process.

Bourbon church welcomes new pastor

New Pastor at First Baptist Church of Bourbon – First Baptist Church of Bourbon is pleased to announce they have a new pastor. Brother Brendon Sanders has already begun and continues to preach the Word of God to the church and community. Brother Brendon’s wife, Kaylee, has also become a true blessing to the church and those she comes in contact with. The couple have one child, Presley. Join Brother Sanders at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday for morning worship and 7 p.m. on Wednesday for small group bible study.
