School year is off to a good start in Bourbon

    Bourbon Superintendent Kyle Gibbs reported Monday that the first days of the 2020-21 school year went well last week. Despite numerous reports of COVID-19 cases in schools throughout the region, the district had no reported cases.

Bourbon man charged with firing a gun during dispute

    A Bourbon man stands charged with the class E felony of unlawful use of a weapon following a report from three witnesses who said he fired a pistol during an argument.

Part of former Bourbon police chief’s lawsuit dismissed, but case to proceed

    In Crawford County Circuit Court on Monday, Presiding Judge Kelly Parker dismissed parts of former Bourbon police chief Paul Satterfield’s lawsuit against the city of Bourbon which was filed in the wake of his firing earlier this year. The ruling released the mayor and individual council members from some potential liability but allowed part of the case against the city and council members to proceed.

Lewis awarded Bill Wallis Scholarship

                  Ashlyn Lewis, a 2020 graduate of Bourbon High School, has been selected to receive the Bill Wallis Scholarship, administered by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks. The scholarship provides $2,000 in financial assistance for her education.

City seeks to dismiss lawsuit brought by former police chief

    The city of Bourbon is seeking to dismiss a lawsuit brought against it, the mayor, and city council by former police chief Paul Satterfield. Arguments on a motion to throw out the lawsuit were presented in Crawford County Circuit Court on August 11.
